Hello,

I have a few questions concerning the oil system on my outboard. My motor has the VRO system on it and I was wondering if that was the primary oil pump or if the external oil tank also had a pump that delivered oil to the VRO system.

Also, how do I tell if the VRO system is delivering the proper oil to fuel ratio?

Any info you could provide would be much appreciated.

thanks

The vro pulls oil to it with vacuum. Its the primary and only oil pump on your motor. You should hear a horn if it wasn't oiling properly. What gives you the idea it isn't getting the proper oil/fuel ratio?

Thanks for the info. I thought that was the case but I am just starting to learn about these engines and there is no better way to learn than ask.

Nothing has really gave me any reason to think it wouldnt be getting the proper mix. I was just wondering if there were any things to watch for when running this motor that would throw up any red flags that I was running too rich or too lean.

I own a 1995 175 intruder. It has the oms pump on it. A updated version of the vro. Your motor may very well still have a original vro on it. If i were you i'd find the part number on it, run it and find out if you have the updated pump. There should be one available for your motor, in fact i know there is. Its a investment but it would be well worth it. It might be listed under vro2 by BRP.
