problem with the tach meter for force motor. idel is ok at about 1000 rpm but when you go full speed the motor runs great but the tach meter goes all the way down. but when you use the trim button it starts working again for a few min then goes all the way down. like something is broke in it can it be fixed or will i have to get a new one. the motor was just got out the shop and runs to specs. the dealer said that the meter may be bad. but seems to work ok at idel. also if any can help what kind of tach meter could i get. thanks

Re: 1992 force tach meter problem

The fact that it works at an idle makes me think it is a wiring problem. Check the leads at the tach and at the motor. It is possible that a wire is broken in the harness and that when you trim the motor it makes a temporary connection. Could be a loose ground also.

What horsepower and how many cylinders? Contact www.teleflex.com for pn for tach. Check rect and stator, Tach wire should be gray wire, check for loose wires on rect/ termial board.
