I have a 1992 Johnson 200 J200stlens. A first the motor would stall when switched to neutral or stall at idle. Mechanic advised fuel side of VRO pump was bad. New VRO pump installed and still same problem. Went through the carbs (rebuilt) all are clean and floats set correctly. The carbs appeared to be clean before the rebuild but did it anyway. Still same problem. Now he looked at the idle air bleed orifice and the intermediate orifice. Factory manual advises the idle air bleed should be #32 and the intermediate should be #28. What were found in the carbs were #38 for the idle air bleed and # 29 for the intermediate. He installed the correct orifices. Went for a lake test. Motor fired right up but the idle seem low. From 1000 to 2000 rpms the motor seem to be running rough and somewhat shaky. Above 2500 rpms the motor appeared to be running as it should. If you come out of the throttle quickly the motor will die. If you very slowly throttle it back and I mean slowly it will stay running but will still seem to be running at a rough low idle. Mechanic also checked the shift switch and it check ok. On a side note I noticed on the stator all the coiled golden wires seemed to be shiny except for one that the wire was darker and brownish in color (Don?t know if this might be a factor to my problem) All of the flywheel magnets appeared to be spaced correctly and intact. My late uncle owned the boat since new he lived in VA. I live in NC. Why would one have that big of a difference in the orifice size than what the manual calls for. I don?t think there much of a difference in the altitude from VA. to NC.. Mechanic states there?s good spark on all cylinders and the compression 90 lbs on all six. Any ideas would be helpful. By no means am I an outboard expert that?s why I am on this site. Thanks
