[I'm assuming you are talking about the actual pump motor. First question is, why did you take it out? If there was no reason for the removal other then you want to check it out, then the usual replaceable items seems correct. Check the usual hydraulic seals and "O" rings and motor bushings or brushes. Other then that, unless there was an obvious problem, clean it up, repaint if you like and reinstall with fresh clean oil.

Took it out because I'm rebuilding the engine, needed bushings in the yoke........yada yada yada, and its tore down completely and it would sound a tad bit funny every once in a while I suppose. So does my G/F though.....hmmmmm

Re: 1992 Merc 175 Trim/Tilt System

The only things that go on these TnT systems is the electric motor brushes, and occasionally the relief valve in the ram itself. The valve is easiest replaced when the unit is on the engine and the engine on the boat. The ram cover requires quite a bit of torque to loosen...

Give the electric motor a clean out and fit new brushes, re-assembly and you should be fine.

Chris......

Edit the title by editing the first post, going into 'Go Advanced' and just change it to what you want.

Oh cool.......good to hear. I did blow out the brush dust and check the brushes for signs of excessive wear/heat and the like.

Dang thing looks good.........housing seals even good still, no water inside ever it appears. That pump looks bulletproof!!

I chucked the armature up in the press and turn it with some sandpaper on the commutator.....shine!!!

Thx Chris
