I have a 1992 mercury 115 on a 1982 basscat 16' dual console bass boat, I am wondering if I should even try a new prop? What happens is @ WOT it runs right @ 5100 rpms trimmed down when trying to trim up the only thing that is affected is the rpms (and it goes up fast) bow height doesnt change nor does the speed that I can tell (speedo just bounces @ 35 mph, I am pretty sure it doesnt work) and you can tell there is no load on the motor I cant tell what pitch current prop is it wasnt stamped very well. Any help is MUCH appreciated

Re: 1992 Mercury Prop

You need a prop with more cup...a good quality SS may fix that issue.
RPM SHOULD go up when trimmed, but so should speed to some extent....sounds like you're venting at any trim level other than full down.
