I have a 1992 omc 5.0 ford 2bbl that I want to upgrade to a 4bbl. I have an intake manifold but I'm getting alot of advise from people selling carbs that it "should" work. but as I dig further, I find some of these will not work. Wether its for a car, or just not the same setup as mine. Any information on what I should look for in a marine carb would be appreciated. My 2bbl has electric choke, but I'm not sure if vacuume secondaries are better than mechanical. What would be a good cfm in order to get more power for wakeboarding. Is there somewhere I can see a list of compatable carbs? I would prefer to buy something used, but it seems it's recommende to rebuild them and that brings the price up near new. So, if anyone out there has one for a good price, knows where I can get one, or knows someone who can rebuild them well at a reasonable price. please let me know.

A 650 will work
You could get an 1100 double pump but unless you do some serious modifications to the motor it would be a waste of$$$
A marine carb would be nice but if you can't get one a standard automotive will do the trick.
There are marine salvage yards all over the country.
Google, Marine salvage and see what you get.

You can look up the OMC parts for the 4 barrel version which should be 502APLAMK , to see what OMC used- original OMC part numbers should google up some marine replacement units,

What kind of carb is your 2bb? Have you looked up it's CFM? Is your 4bbl intake cast iron? It should be unless you are running a closed cooling system.

Ideally, you should stick with a 500 or 450 CFM bbl marine carb. IMHO even a 600 is pushing its usefulness on a stock marine 5.0 A properly sized 4 bbl will give you a noticeable increase in power although if you get throttle happy, you will pay for it at the pump. If you stay out of the secondaries, it will give you as good economy as the two bbl.
