1993 115 replacement float chambers

I had a leak around the float bowl on lower carb. I read a couple of threads on the 437214 replacement kits. It contains chamber 392376 metal replacement. I also noticed that the chamber is not as deep as the plastic one and have not been able to find where anyone has verified that this is ok?

Don't want to burn it up!!!

Have you tried truing up the plastic bowl sealing surface, sandpaper on a sheet of glass and turn in figure 8's.

Overtightening causes the plastic to distort.
I don't know anything about the replacement parts.
