1993 50 Hp VRO or OMS

Is the Motor VRO or OMS System....


I have a chance to get a nice 50 hp....it is a 1993 50hp...not sure of the model yet as the owner is away on vaca ..but we did talk and he did say it has a oil tank and all hoses...come with controller has tilt and trim and a trim guage....

the motor has been in storage for 10 years...I know a water pump and carb rebuild is in order...

compression is 130 in both cylinders ..he will show me...has all the service papers...

I was just wondering if it is a OMS system or VRO...

the motor was on a pontoon boat and has very low hours..under 100 hrs..and the pictures he sent me shows the motor like showroom condition...

no one knows what oil pump system this has...

Not trying to rush this..but would like to commit to the motor today..the price is right....

I believe all 50's after 93 were OMS but the thread has some info on what to look for. My '98 oils fine once I tightened up all the leaks.

Just for what it's worth, if you just want to factor a brand new pump into the equation, in case you find the existing pump isn't the "latest and greatest", it'll be about $400 or so for the part, easy (really!) do it yourself 1 hour installation.

There's an excellent chance that the existing pump is just fine (it's easy to check both the alarms and the functioning), but the above might be useful for your "worst case, I have to replace the pump" scenario.
