I'm about to reinstall my 7.4L (now a 496 stroker)back into my boat. I'm changing all of the engine mounts. According to my research, the flywheel housing has the old style mounts utilizing the double wound lock ring. When buying the new mounts, do I go with the new style (deletion of lock ring) or old? Any tips on replacement of these parts? Are the bushings pounded or pressed out through the bottom? I want to do this once and correct because forklifts aren't cheap for installing an engine.

I have installed both the new and old styles and both work, I burn the core from the rubber , use a socket of the correct size, support the bottom of the housing with a larger, deep socket and drive the remaining rubber and sleeve from the housing. To install then I made a tool but have them pressed/pushed in instead of pounding them in.

I would think so,..??
