i just rebuilt my motor and it ran good for about 10 minutes. i brought it to the lake, got backed off the trailer and that was it. came home cleaned the carb, tried again still no go. it will run wide open but no idle. i can play with the primer(choke) and make it idle. by the way i've cleaned the carb. 4 times. any ideas or info. anything to point my in the right direction.

Is it running in a flooded condition? is float in carb stuck, or possibly installed upside down? :D

it is installed corectly, when i prime (choke) it, it giges it a little fuel, enough to run but i have to constantly prime it for it to idle. any thing above 3000 rpm it runs good.

Something is still amiss in your fuel system, most likely your carbs. Despite the fact that you have worked on them, something is not right. The fact that it runs at WOT suggests the fuel pump and tank are OK. If choking it helps then you are running lean on your midrange and idle circuits.

When you say you've cleaned the carbs 4 times, by what method did you do that?

only one carb. thats why i cant figure it out. i've cleaned it through and through 4 times going on 5 today but it has to have something in it. i just have to find out how to get the whole carb apart(every single piece). by the way i just took air to blow it out. do i need something stronger?

compression air is not enough. You definitely need to soak it a couple hours in laquer thiner and the blow with compression air. Make sure you put all the component back the same as before you take it apart. Make sure your idle needle set up right

Ditto what chyrsleroutboard said. A common thread here is carb problems with people who think they have "cleaned" their carbs but haven't really. It often confuses the issue. My guess is you still have gunk in the jets. COMPLETELY disassemble the carb, soak it in carb solvent, blow it with compressed air, install new parts (float, float valve, seals, and gaskets), set the float adjustment, and you will probably be good to go.
