I just bought this http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/boa/2449670804.html

So it's my first boat and I have lots of questions. I have done some research and searched these and many forums, but I wanted to start my own thread.

First I have read conflicting reviews/posts about wakeboarding with a bayliner. Obviously I don't have 40k to go out and buy a brand new wakeboarding boat and plus I want to have a multi purpose boat. I live in Seattle so I want to go out in the puget sound etc.

So I am wondering what I can do to help with wakeboarding, I am not a pro rider or anything? I am looking into towers and was also looking into different props that would help with the wake etc. Also how long of rope etc. Basically I'm total noob when it comes to the boat and wakeboarding/tubing.

So any help/input would be great. I just took it out on the sound and it floats (thank god):D and I'm in the process if tuning it up

Thanks a lot

Re: 1993 Bayliner Capri 2050 4.3---- Wakeboarding

Hey TeamSorad, welcome to the boating and wakeboarding community!! Regardless of what people say, I have a Bayliner 195BR that I wakeboard with and we have a great time on her. I do not have a tower yet, but I am working on that...You will be able to wakeboard just fine behind your boat. You may not have a huge wake like the typical inboard but that's ok, it is still fun!

My boat came with a 3 blade aluminum prop but I upgraded to a stainless steel High 5 prop. They are SUPER expensive if you buy new but I got mine shipped to my house for less than $200 because I found a used one that was in excellent shape. I use a 65ft rope-go ahead and buy a non-stretch rope from the get go instead of saving a few bucks and buying a regular ski rope because you will want to upgrade soon anyway. To improve your wake you can add weight to your boat as this will weigh your boat down and it will push more water which yeilds a larger wake. With that being said, initially starting out, just trim your outdrive up a little (personalyl I trim it up about 20%) before you spend more money as changing the trim makes a big difference itself in the wake size.
Good luck and have fun!!
