I am looking to upgrade to a bigger sized boat. I found a guy who is willing to trade my boat with a little bit of $ for his 20 ft with a 140 HP Evinrude. Now everything is great on the boat, the motor runs and it pumps water and goes into gear well. Except there is water coming out of the leg where it's not supposed to. I am not too sure if I have the terms right but it's coming out of where the exaust housing meets the gearcase (the seam that is between the two). I have posted a picture of an evinrude motor and circled where it's coming out of just for reference. It's not the same motor but just so people get an idea of where it's leaking besides my verbal description. Would could be causing this? It seems like there is supposed to be some sort of gasket between the two that could be shot maybe? The owner said it just started doing this a couple weeks ago. I just want peoples opinions on what it could be before I jump into this thing. Any input would be HIGHLY appreciated. Please don't sugar coat anything it could possibly be since I want to know the worst case situation. Here is a link to the photo http://i821.photobucket.com/albums/zz139/borgeyyayo/evinrude/97_Evinrude60hp_Outbrd.jpg It also takes about 30-40 seconds for it to start pissing water. On my other outboard (it's only a little 25 HP) it starts pissing water almost instantly.
