I have a 1993 evinrude intruder 175 the boat runs great on the water hose at home but when in water it will idle rough and die when put in gear unless you get on the throttle right away. I did compression test and it checked out good about 97-102 on all cylinders I also put in new fuel and a fuel water seperator and did a check for good spark like i said runs great when not in water but in the lake it likes to die alot but once your on the throttle it runs just fine all the way through wide open throttle i did not pull the carbs and clean them yet as its fishing opener tomorrow and i dont want to wreck a gasket or something today...if it is running like this will i hurt the motor to fish all weekend with it? thanks for any info BZ

As long as it's running good at mid range and wot you should be okay for the week end.

clean your carbs and adjust your timing for 1K rpm on the hose and 850 in the water.
