I suspect this is a timing problem, but not sure what to do next.

The problem: Engine starts great and easy. Runs in gear up to 2000+ RPM - no problem. If I advance the throttle slowly through 3000 RPMS's - it will normally stall. Note - normally means about 70% of the time and it is an outright STALL - wow's right out. However, if I punch it to WOT - there is never a problem and off it goes. Runs great at WOT.

Suspecting the timing is advancing to much in the mid section of the operating range - I used the Seloc manual for the motor to set the WOT timing via cold cranking to 32 degrees. I checked the linkage between timing tower and carb's to ensure also set properly for WOT. No impact on the problem.

My question is what next?
a) Should I reduce the WOT timing to 28 degress or 34 degrees and see what happens next? (I will check for 30 degrees on the lake at WOT later) But again - @WOT - all is well!

b) Should I adjust the timing tower to carb linkage to delay the timing advancing a little later?

c) other - let me know your thoughts.

Thanks Al
