Looking for any helpful guidance. 1993 Johnson V6 150 – replaced water pump and impeller. Found a lot of salt deposits in and around the water housing manifold. Don’t know how to remove the intake screens to check if there’s anything collected up in there. Since the engine overheated is no longer generating voltage back to the batteries I don’t know enough if that is the voltage regulator/rectifier or if it is the stator. Would love an answer on that. Also going to run the engine in a tank of water considering CLR, or some sort of other solvent that could Descale what I think is clogged up around the engine block.

I rinse with "salt away" but once your plugged i doubt it will work. There is also a product called Barnacle buster.

Lots of online stuff about testing rectifier and stator with a multimeter.

It starts and runs fine it just doesn’t charge the battery if that helps

Trust me - I dug deep (think I reached the end of the internet) but couldnt find how to test that specific voltage regulator/rectifier (oem 0584093 / 0439561)

If the motor starts and runs it’s not the stator
