All,
I purchased a rectifier p/n 584093 for this motor about 4 months ago. The rect. went out within a couple months, so I took it to a mechanic before replacing it again. The mechanic found the stator to be out and replaced it. I recentlyordered a new rectifier p/n 0439561 (this is the p/n the dealership gave me). After a lengthy wait it finally arrived, but I dont think it is the right one. The number marked on the box is what I ordered, but the number stamped on the part itself is 585219. It does not have the same amount of wires as the other one. When I emailed the guy asking him what the deal was, I received this response:
"585219 is right part, I assure you. The part number has been superceded (changed) to 439561, but they are the same part. The power pack is the correct one. It came directly from the factory, there is no mistake. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns":^
Is this correct? I am starting to think the $40 I saved on a $240 part at the dealership was not worth it. I want to make sure this is the wrong part before I demand my money back and just order the right part at the dealership... Help!! Thx!!

Re: 1993 Johnson 175 rect. mix-up

ok to clarify alittle more. I just looked up the numbers and it appears the 585219 should work. However the rectifier that is on there now, and the original rectifier had 2 wires (a grey and a purple), and this one only has 1 wire (a grey)?? Should this rectifier have 2 wires?? I.e. is it damaged / missing a wire?? Anybody that could shed some light would be greatly appreciated...

Ok, I just got off the phone with the Johnson parts house, and it appears that the 585219 rectifier is indeed what I need. Why they ship them in a box with a different part number is beyond me. I now need to find out why the last rectifier I put on had an additional purple wire, and this one doesn't? Was the purple wire not needed? What I have on this rectifier is a: red wire w/ eye crimped on, yellow wires with connector plug, and a grey wire. This is similiar to what I have on the motor now except I also have an additional pruple wire. This is my second $200+ rectifier to put on in a couple months, plus a $500 stator replacement bill. Just want to make sure everything is on the up and up. This repair is getting pricey:^. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out!
