I just got a 93 Johnson 25hp electric start. Where does the ground for the battery connect? I see the positive connectiom on the solenoid but can't find where the ground goes.

Um, to the negative battery post? If you mean the motor side then you should find a bolt that screws to the block. It may be one of the starter mounting bolts or somewhere near there. Either way it just needs a good solid bolt into the block thats clean and free of anything else, you want it to make a good clean tight connection. Also, throw away any wing nuts on the battery and use nuts, star washers and a wrench.

Originally, it should have had a bolt with a threaded shank sticking out of the top - kind of a double ended bolt. It would be on the exhaust cover. In the end, it really doesn't matter - pick a bolt and put the battery cable under it. Make sure the bolt, block, threads, etc. are clean so the cable makes good ground through it all.

The 25s don't have that funky bolt. Just put the ground to one of the starter bracket bolts that's where mine went.
