VJ70tLETS. Wasn’t getting fire so replaced timer base and power pack. Both were bad. Now have string fire on all three. Compression 125 on all three. When I prime little fuel in the carbs I get a backfire and no start. Acts like the wires are out of order but I’ve got tan/blue on top, purple middle and green bottom. Any ideas what else I might try?

Flywheel key could be sheared.----Did you torque it properly ?----Assembled it clean and dry ?

The colors all match up. Power pack and trigger are both new.

Put a timing light on it and I’m 180 degrees off. Pin is not sheared.

No sir. They are correct. And if they were at least one mark of the three top dead centers I made would hit right? Or at least be close. Top dead center is when the piston is closest to the plug correct?

Perhaps the magnets around the hub are loose.-------Note a sheared flywheel key will still give you beautiful spark but just at the wrong time !----I do not understand how a powerpack and timer base can both be bad on one of these motors.

They were both bad. I have a DVA. Two different shear keys and two different flywheels have been tried with the same results.

CDI tech support thinks that it could have gotten wired wrong in the pack. He suggests trying to switch the wires up.

Got a better timing light. All three cylinders are firing at the same time.

Let me rephrase it. They are all firing on the same cylinder. I marked it with numbers. It lit 1 the 2 then 3 really fast. Pulled it apart now anyway for parts. Thanks.
