I recently just purchased a boat with a 90hp Johnson on it. I've been out three times. Today I was trying to do some minor repairs, (tightening some things) and went to trim the motor down. It is stuck in the up position. It will go up just a tad bit but then stops. It will not go down at all even though I can still here it working????

Any help would be appreciated seeing how this is my first boat.

Thanks in advance

Also, where is the best place to buy spark plug wires. I noticed today that one was not replaced the last time they were changed. It might be a dead cylinder???

Re: 1993 Johnson 90hp V4

Sounds to me like the lock tab for transport is engaged. It's a flat metal bar, probably on the right side of the motor looking from the back. It will be slightly below the powerhead. It pivots in or out to brace the motor in a "tilted up" position for trailering. If it's engaged, the motor will still tilt up a whisker. But when you start bringing the motor down, it will come to rest on the tab or bar. The pistons will keep retracting. But the motor isn't going down with them.
