If we had the rpm and that speed is accurate we can figure out the slip percentage. We'd also need to know what pitch it is and more about your set up. Jackplate? Water pressure? How does it perform now?

about 5000-5100rpm, i dont know how high i can turn the motor safely but get most speed ? i do not have jackplate, waterpressure going down lake by gauge is mid 20's.

When you say a 1993 Faststrike, we assume you have a 60 degree 150 or 175. Depending on which model you have the rev limiters are at either 6200 or 6700. 5100 rpm is lugging the motor and really bad for it.

Re: 1993 johnson fast strike propeller ???

You are correct, its a 93. Very good motor. I would think a 25 is a bit steep for that rig though. Obviously a Renagade Bass, with the small diameter, is not going to allow for a very high X dimension. Raising the motor should allow for some rpm gain as well as speed.

We've always had better luck with the larger diameter props. Especially with 4 blade props. To be honest, if the rig doesnt have a jackplate we dont recommend a 4 blade. It always seems that youre paying for technology you cant use.

My suggestion would be to start by raising the motor, if possible. Obviously getting a jackplate would be high on the list. Lets see what performance we can gain with this prop before buying a different one.

WHAT IS A GOOD RPM RANGE TO RUN THAT WOULD BE SAFE ON THE MOTOR AND FAST, CAUSE I HAVE NO SPECS ON MOTORS, OR INFO WHERE I CAN SEE SPECS ON INTERNET. THANKS

If it were mine I wouldnt do anything without putting a jackplate on. Manual or hydraulic. But I'd get one on. Check them out at www.bobsmachine.com -- very nice units. Once you get the versatility of the jackplate then I'd start testing props. testing -- a darn good excuse to go boating. As if we need an excuse!

The standard convertable one from Bob's is 5" offset. You can turn the plates around to get about 1/2 that if you like.
