Hi There,

I bought an 18' Wellcraft with the above motor. While in the process, I found the (watercooled) Reg/Rec not working and the PO fixed it to the tune of a couple hundred I guess. Of course not knowing why it blew, I've been wondering about something. How much amperage draw would it take to blow it, or rather how much amperage can it stand. Most times I guess we all run stuff that doesn't use much juice, radios, gps, running/courtesy lights etc. What if I plug one of those big time search lights in the cigarette lighter...just wondering how I'd know how much draw is too much?

Thanks,

Bill

The motor provides a certain amperage to the battery and no more than that !-----If you hook up something that draws a large current then that current comes from the battery.---If that draw is more than the current from the charging system the battery will eventually go dead.
