1993 Maxum 1700 xr question

I have the above boat and want to add a fishing seat somewhere up in the bow area. I was thinking of mounting a base under the seat so it can be covered when the family is with me not fishing. My question is how much clearance is under the seats? Or would it be better to mount the base on the floor? Thanks, Brian

your question is unclear.....what kind of base depends on what kind of seat?

there is lots of kinds......are you talking about a pedistal seat?

if you are .......the base goes on the floor and then you can cover it with carpet......but the family will or can stub their toes on the raised portion....

if you wanna add a pedistal seat......make sure the deck is strong enough, as some floors are only 3/8th ply.....and it wont hold a pedistal under stress
