I have a 1993 Mercury 200 offshore which is a 2 stroke. it's in fair condition, but idles a bit rough and is touchy starting. I'm considering buying a new 250 Verado for a few reasons, the first being fuel savings. My 200 2-stroke is an absolute pig on gas and I know I'll save a lot on fuel with a four stroke. Secondly, the 2 stroke is really noisy and smelly and the four stroke will have neither. Thirdly is the reliability of a new motor with a warranty as opposed to an older often problematic motor without warranty. And fourthly is the money I won't be spending on repairs for an old well used motor.
Do any of you have any thoughts or disagreements with any of my reasons for buying new. Is there anything I should watch out for when buying new and are there any sage words of advice on the idea.

Thanks.

Without getting into brands of motors, I think you will be surprised at just how sweet these new motors are. They just start, don't smoke, are quiet, and sip gas compared to what you are used to  I smoked alot and sometimes didn't start, I'll never go back, and thats that :D
