Wondering if I have the right idea here....after starting the mercruiser v8 5.0 litre, it runs like a champ. Turn it off and tends to flood,,,and not able to start again....looked in the two barrel carb,,,and seems gas keeps dripping down and pooling on the lower surface.....assume its in need of a float and needle that's not seating for whatever reason?
Wondering if that seems correct diagnosis, and if anyone knows what carburetor that would be to order the right parts....or if something else is going on.
Thanks

Yeah, sounds like a needle/seat problem. Before you go pulling it all down, check a couple of things. It's a mechanical fuel pump, so make sure that extra fuel isn't being fed in through the 'broken diaphram' hose (Clear hose that runs from the side of the pump to the carb. Make sure it has NO fuel in it) and check the pump pressure. If the pressure is too high it will push the needle off the seat, and cause the flooding you see. Also check the float height.

The carb is a Mercarb 2 bbl. Very similar to a Rochester 2bbl. Needle/seat kit is Merc number 3302-9029
