1993 Regal 196se or 1997 Bayliner 2050ss

Looking at both boats both are 350 mercs Regal has hull thru exhaust both boats are in nice shape the trailer on the 1997 bayliner is rough but fixable. The bayliner is 6000 and the regal is 6000. Both look and sound like they have been maintained. I know bayliner is supposidly not as good as build quality but it is 4 years newer. The graphics are coming off but other than that the boat is in good condition. I have a deposit on the bayliner but I think I could get it back. Any thoughts. I do love the hull thru exhaust on the Regal but the interior looks dated

I am not able to test drive them currently. I would think that the newer boat in similar conditon would be the best buy?

I would not buy anything I haven't test driven. I have driven 15 year old boats that were maintained better and out performed similar 5 year old boats. I also prefer through hull exhaust because it eliminates a bellow although they tend to be louder.

Also make sure you check the NADA. At a glance without more details on condition and accessories the Bayliner seems to right at the NADA Value where the regal is priced well over NADA.
