I bought this engine 10 months ago on a project boat. Finally have boat finished but the motor is hard to crank. The previous owner had used starter fluid so I guess this has been a long term problem. Last time I tried to crank it the motor flooded but after cleaning plugs it fired up and this was about a month ago. I knew from the get go it had low compression with all 3 cyl reading 90 psi but had read that this was common on commercial engines. Anyway I'm curious if anyone has had the same problem or if they used sea foam or starter fluid to help on a cold engine. Once running in the tank, she smooths out real well when warm.
PS Never considered using fluid before .
