1993 Yamaha T9.9 EXHR 4 stroke.

Does anyone know if the cylinder head can be removed without taking the entire power head out? Does not look like much clearance. I just want to clean a plugged water jacket; no flow from upper nipple.

Same question about exhaust port cover.

I do have the Yamaha service and Clymer manuals, but an answer from someone with experience would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Powerhead has to be pulled to remove the cowling.
Rear cam cover is removable. Remove cam cover and see if the head bolts are accessible. If you can access the head bolts, I believe you need around a 1/4 inch of rear travel to clear the locating dowel pins.

Exhaust cover: If you can remove the two lower bolts, you can(not sure)

FYI: Don't be surprised if you plug up the cooling passages within a year if used in saltwater. IMO, it is poorly designed...passages are too small and have dead ends which gets salt crystals built up in them, regardless of thorough flushing after use.
This may not apply to yours, but mine, which is a 1988 model.

Good luck with it, Scott
