Engine acts as if in RPM reduction. Check flashes with timing light and it skips on all three cylinders.
Checked the oil float, cleaned screen.
Has green light on engine oil monitor. (on engine, not tach)
Tried engine with temp sender disconnected, overheat sender disconnected, disconnected the oil warning from harness, disconnected main boat harness (remote control). Makes no difference, motor still skips.
Timing was re-adjusted.
It is definitely an ignition problem, charge coils and pulse coils ck. OK. Owner just replaced the CDI unit, (was guessing).
Does the Oil sender have to be hooked up or will the CDI go into rpm reduction if it isn't? There is a green and green/red wire. One is out of oil, other wire??
Does anyone have the sensor tests for the temp sender and oil sender?
Any other thoughts.
Compression OK, fuel OK etc., etc. Definately ignition and on all three cyl. Hard to believe the new CDI box is bad too. I've never seen one go bad.
Thanks
