1994 48 hp evinrude

Good morning I’m working on a 1994 48hp evinrude tilt trim. I’m trying to get the piston rod out of the shaft hole cause the top cap has a seal that needs replacing causing it to leak any info on how to get it out would be very much appreciated thank you and have a good day.

Take the whole works out first.----Remove piston.

How do I remove the piston I don’t know how to?

Got a model # ?? You need a special tool that fits in the cap on the top of the cylinder. Unthread the cap and pull out the piston and ect. Find a parts break down and it gets simple.

I was able to pull the piston out and was able to change the hydraulic seal on top cap went to a local hydraulic shop they gave me the seal was 11 cents for it where online everything I found was like $20 lol

I’m not an expert but I would assume the guy that sold me the seal works on tilt trim Motor along with other hydraulic equipment so I’d think I’d be okay going the cheap route this time I hope lol
