can anyone tell me what keeps the motor locked down when you go to reverse.that motor didn't come with tilt and trim from factory this is not the tiller handle stile the only thing i have found it has a trim assist witch is a cylinder with a plastic tube 1/4'' to a lever on the outside bracket .on the end of it was a piece of plastic that was broke.can anyone explain to me what keeps your motor locked down foward or reverse thanks for the help

You should have a lever on the port side that locks it in the up position. On the starboard side it has a lever to lock it down or in any position you want. Some of the hydraulic manual assist units gave problems.

i think you are right on mine is the manual assist that's giving me the problem but don't know how to fix it any thoughts would be appreciated

thanks again stumpalump,there were two problems i fixed the shell tilt assist that was broke and replaced a o ring that was missing
