I just boat a Spectrum fishing boat. It came with a 70hp Force. It also say's powered by Mercry. I can't find any specs on the engine. I need a new trim motor (the Electric motor) for the boat. Are they good engines? The motor has not been ran in two years. It was running fine when he parked the boat. I would just like some info on the engine. Im going to pick the boat up today. Maybe I can find somemore info on it.
Thanks,
Tucker

Re: 1994 70hp Force powered by Mercry

Welcome to iboats Tucker.

I sold my 1995 70 hp Force and Spectrum Avenger boat last year.
Had no problems with it during the 8 years I owned it.

You can get parts from Mercurypartsexpress dot com
or from Mercruiserparts dot com
maxrules dot com is good for parts too.
And don't forget to look in the iboats mall for some parts.

Some parts are available from aftermarket suppliers.

The first thing you need to buy is a Clymer Force Repair Manual, or a factory service manual. Don't waste your money on a Seloc brand manual.

Most everything you need to know about that motor is in the Clymer manual, and here on iboats.

Aftermarket trim motors go for about $275.

I would get the manual and get to know your motor.
Then perform the maintenance and repairs as needed.

First off, check for spark, and check the compression.

Then change the gearcase lube.
Replace the water pump impeller and the thermostat.
Replace the fuel pump diaphram.
Put in some new spark plugs.
Replace the fuel line if it is not in good shape.

If you have any questions, just ask here.

Good luck, and congrats on the boat.
