I purchased this boat a couple of weeks ago for a great price. The motor is sound, as is the hull, upholstery, and flooring.

I took the boat out last weekend and noticed two problems that I would like a little help on if possible.

PROBLEM 1:
The UP trim button on the merc. does not work. I had to use the larger tilt button to trim up (The large button on the throttle). Is there any harm in this until I get it fixed? What could the problem be and how to fix it would be my second question(s)

Problem 2:
Of much more importance to me is a fuel problem. When I took the boat to the gas station to fill up, I did not know the capacity of the gas tank and completely filled up to the point of spilling a couple of ounces of fuel on the ski platform that I cleaned up with some paper towels and my wife's wet wipes.

At the lake, we only went out for about 15 minutes to test everything out. We were on lake Talquin and the wind was blowing too hard to see the stumps (LOTS of them) So I decided to go back in after hitting a couple of them (VERY low speed, no hull or prop damage, just a couple of bumps.)

When I got home, I parked the truck and the boat in the drive way. I then flushed it with the engine running at idle for about 3 minutes, shut everything down and went inside. A couple of hours later I went outside and smelled gas. I noticed that a few ounces of gas has came out of what I assume is the vent (silver "plug & grommet" located about 5 inches from the fuel cap above the ski deck) and spilled onto the deck and pooled up. I cleaned off the fuel and assumed since I over filled it and didn't run it too much that the vent worked due to the outside heat expanding the fuel in the tank.

Well, today, I pulled the boat around to do some maintenance on it. Upon coming back from the store, same thing, gas coming out of the "vent" and onto the ski deck. I unscrewed the gas cap and had a long and strong "whoosh" of gas pressure come out of the cap.

Is this a problem? Or is this normal since it's so hot and the tank is so full? Is there any maintenance to perform on the vent?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me for these two problems. I have never owned a bayliner or an I/O before and would like to get an owners manual and maybe a maintenance manual for the boat.

Problem 1: Not a great issue as long as you know the limits of that switch. Since the trim seems to work then I would narrow my search down to a loose or broken wire in the throttle handle itself

Problem 2: Overflowing gas through your vent tube is not a problem. It is a nuisance at best. Vehicles and boats have two completely different fuel systems. The most glaring difference is the vent tube - cars don't have them. In the hot sun the fuel will expand and it will exit the vent. When it doesn't them you have a problem. Just be aware of your fuel capacity and try to keep the level a tad bit lower. That will take care of the overflow issue.
So you pretty much nailed the problem yourself. There are only a couple of maintenance issues related to your tank. Make sure the fill and vent tubes are in good shape with no kinks or excessive bends and your vent is not clogged. Wasps love to make little nests in it.
I think other than that you should be good to go.
As far as a manual is concerned you could call Bayliner @ 360.453.8957 and request a copy - they'll send you one at no charge if one is available. It will be somewhat " generic". ( have your HIN number handy)
I would highly recommend an OEM manual for both your motor and drive. Somewhere in the forum is a downloadable site with that info. Try the search function and see what comes up there.
Good luck and safe boating to ya'. :D
