The van I drive for work has been skipping and jerking while driving. It only does this after it warms up a few minutes. It doesn't do it under hard acceleration, but when I am up to speed and my foot is barely on the accelerator. Also it hiccups while idling too. Almost like someone is intermittently shutting off the ignition. So far this is what I have done: New plugs, New cap and rotor, new plug wires. Still skips. Could this be fuel related? Like a filter or bad injectors? Can an ignition module go bad like this? Inline 6, 4.9 EFI
Sorry for the longish post, but I wanted to make myself clear. Hope I did.
Thanks for any and all replies.

Dave

Sure sounds like an EGR Valve to me. If it opens too easily, it may cause symptoms just like that.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I guess maybe I should get it on a diagnostic machine  . I liked my old '81 F-150 inline 6 better. Much easier to work on. I can barely get to anything with this van. Glad it's not a V8

OK, so far new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and coil. Still hiccups. When I took the vacuum line off the EGR valve it seemed better, but did not go away completely. It seems to be knocking and pinging more now also. I coulda sworn this was an ignition problem but....
Could it be a fuel problem? Filter? O2 sensor? MAP sensor? Bad EGR?

Hey if its fuel injected I would check the gas cap. A lot of people don't realize that its a pressized system

Take the wooden end of a hammer and knock on the block beside the KNOCK SENSOR vehicle running
if the engine speed increases it is woorking ,if not replace. Also check your Mass AIR FLOW sensor on air breather intake ,tap it with same hammer or other one :D :D engine should stumble then recover if no change replace

Yeah but there's still plenty more waiting to hear the results of these tests first Diffinatly needs a fuel pressure test also.

so Bondo, what's wrong with getting lucky, keeps the economy going, and if you can get paid by the hour for such, I say, do it. You should be able to get codes should you not? ;)

Re: 1994 E-150 skipping

Thanks for the suggestions Dolluper, will do exactly as you said and report back. It's a work truck so the Co. is picking up the tab for whatever I want to do. (and I like fiddling with stuff) I don't mind throwing parts at it as they needed replacement soon anyway I would guess. (157,000 on original parts) Sure is frustrating though...I miss carbs and points......

BTW where on the block is the knock sensor?

Thanks SOOOOOOO much for helping me out
