1994 Evinrude 150 hp outboard

The motor runs great when full throttle and general use. But when floating and engine turned off, try to restart and have to choke and run it at high RPM again to clean out whatever it it that does not allow it to run at low rpm.

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpfull.

We should probably start with the basics. How's the compression? Has it been sitting for more than 4-6 weeks (like over the winter)? How old is the fuel? What spark plugs are you using?

Dhadley,

I just had a tune-up and the control block replaced. The new control block solved the starting problems. They also put in new plugs.
I run it every weekend and have run the 27 gallon tank down and replenish with new premium.
I'm just wondering if I should check the plug gaps?
Your input would be helpfull.
