Got a 1994 johnson 150 fast strike runs fine until
it gets to operation temp then it loses about 1500
rpm at wide open throttle. have cleaned carbs and
cleaned tank the reason i say this is the boat as
set for about 1 1/2 years before i bought it. seams to do fine when i first put it in the water
but after about a mile or so it loses power.
compression seams ok not more than 5% at any cylinder.
thanks for any help

Alot of possibilities here .You may well be losing ignition on one or more cylinder. You may well have a carb going to hell at that transition. You've checked at least basically the mechanical health of this engine.Good for you.Get yourself a timeing light ,and a good buddy that you can count on not to dump you over the back of the boat.Run the engine with the light hooked up to any plug wire and point that light right in your face.Repeat this until you have looked at and compared all cylinders when this thing is failing.3 that have an almost continuous light ,but one that flashes hilly nilly or stops flashing at all means an ignition failure.Carb failures involve removeing the airbox and shooting raw fuel mix into each carb to see if it makes a differance.

Sounds to me like a heat related ignition failure, like Hondon says.

A less hazardous way to look for it is to crank her up on the muffs and heat the ignition components with a hair dryer. Watch for rpm drop or use the timing light to isolate the cylinder(s) that fail, unless the heated component is the obvious fault.

Good luck. :)
