1994 fast strike rebuild question?

my buddy has a 1994 150 johnson fast strike he is also a diesel mechanic we are going to rebuild his outboard its a freshwater motor he says putting new sleeves is the best way to go the block has already been rebuilt in 2001 but they left some pistons origanal some board out 20 over and some 30 over my question is this is there anything i should know about resleeving these motors and how much does the sleeves run ? are they already honed thanks anthony NY

It'd be way easier and cheaper to simply bore it all the same. Or only as needed. Either way. Sleeving 6 will get rather expensive. At that point I'd think it'd be cheaper to find another block.

Sleeving is standard practice on diesels. No offense intended, but your buddy needs to get a different mindset to overhaul a 2 stroke outboard.

I hope you mean the pistons are .030 over, not .30. But yes, there are .040 os pistons.<br /><br />Before you go buying a bunch of stuff why dont we wait until you get the cylinders measured? That way youll know where youre at to start with.
