Fish Hard
Sounds like you have a sick relay, if this model has relays. It will be the up relay that is sick as the down one uses it as it's earth. Try changin the relays over from 1 to the other and if you now down but cant go up then you need a new one.

Cheers
KIWI
AWAYS USE A MANUAL RTFM

Hi KIWI MERCMAN

I am not sure that any of these guys know what RTFM means..... its more of a computer thing...

Not sure we should tell them either.. some might not take it in the same way it was offered.. :)

oh well, here goes.. what the he!!.. :)

RTFM

Read The F______ Manual....

Its a term coined by open source programmers for people who just join up and ask dumb questions that are already answered in the docs the programmers put together for that purpose...

There is another variant also:

STFW

Surf The F______ Web.

This community service message was brought to you from Franki of Western Australia :)

rgds

Franki

Franki
I've used this term for 20 years every time I had a class of new trainees in Melb, that all thought they knew how to fix Outboards without the Manual. Now that a LOL

Kiwi

so what you are saying is "that you have no problem insulting people because they dont know what the abreviations stand for" ???????????? that alone is very inconsiderate & disrespectful of people who try to seek help on this web site.

2K
No insults intended! ,But having read some of Frankie's posts I cant speak for him. (eh Mate)
This is just a common term used on this side of the Pacific for years.
We used to Start our training classes with this on the black board in large letters.

Mainley just to stress the point if you are working on an outboard get the right manual and read it first. Then read it again.

Re: 1994 Force 120 hp trim problems

yes 2K,,

I also meant no insult..

I am on about 200 mailing lists and get about 500 emails a day..

I see the abbrev RTFM about 50 times a day in other peoples posts.. its not really defamitory...

Its just become a standard way of saying "if there are docs, they can tell you the answer faster then I can."

Neither Mr Kiwi nor myself mean any disrespect to anyone..

trust me, RTFM is a nice saying compared to what some of the kernel hackers respond with...

This is why I tacked this into my message:

"some might not take it in the same way it was offered.. :)"

honest, its just a harmless sig... :)

Now Mr Kiwi... what prompted this comment:

But having read some of Frankie's posts I cant speak for him.

??????? :)

rgds

Franki

Fish,

Kiwi is correct, I have a 92/120 Force and mine did exactly the same thing, switch the relays and you should see the reverse happen, should go down but not up, if thats it I got a new relay at Boesh relay at auto zone for like 12 dollars, hope this helps, let us know what happens
