Good Day, Guys/Gals

I'm in hands of a 1994 Four Winns Fling Jet Boat bought it with a blown engine. I have since then bought a OEM 115 Johnson outboard ripped it for it's powerhead and and it installed.

With that said the first time we took it out we were losing power all the time it would just cut out...we then seen that the exaust hose was bad ripped on the inside and resticting flow.. order new one and that fixed the issue.. first ride out with the new hose we blew the hose i overheated, so we snooped around some more and noticed that a hose was wrong;y inserted so we redirected that and it worked fine.. test drive again the hose stayed cool with no issues... 4-5 rides with no problems

now the fun stuff... the other day we head out and notice it wasn't spitting water out the back so we stop to see if the hose was hot and sure enough hot as heck... so we stopped and played with some stuff I sucked on the back hose and there was a block somewhere.. after sucking and sucking it came up blocked and it was spitting great... now even though it's spitting and getting water it's still getting hot... so we took the exaust hose off and notice it was pretty burnt... and to boot we found a little hole... so another hose...

and still it's getting hot and the water is spitting out the back just fine..

I just my real question is can anyone supply or explain how the water system should be setup on these boats or maybe some photos of there setup?? it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again
Jeff

PS: I gave the whole story so everyone reading or trying to help would know whats been doing and going on.

I am not going to be able to help but will add to the questions. My 94 Fling has been having an intermittent overheating alarm. I am also looking to understand the cooling system. Like your boat I disconnect the hose from the block to the muffler and see good cooling what flow...therefore pump is working with no apparent blockage.

What I would like to know is does the engine cooling have a thermostat and where does the water go after cooling the muffler. I see no apparent water exhaust.

The way my water system is set up is water goes in the intake, I believe is pumped by a separate water pump with flow going through the engine block. There is a hose on the starboard side that connect the water from the engine block to the muffler. It is this hose and the muffler pet **** that I open for winter storage.

I'm no guru but I'ver had a OMC Jet Rage for over ten years.
There is no water pump on the omc jet. Without a strainer they often get clogged cooling passages. You may need to take apart the cooling system piece by peice to find it. Or you can just rig a garden hose to the 1"(?) intake hose that comes off the front of the rear transom bracket. Water should exit from the jet housing and a small hole on the port side of the transom bracket at the stern. The thermostats and poppet valves are low in the center rear of the engine.
An infrared handheld thermometer is a must on one of these units. You can find a cooling flow chart somewhere on the continuouswave site for boston whalers.
Warning!!!! DO NOT winterize by draining the petcocks only!! Water will remain in the adapter plate and you will have freeze damage! Drain, then fill with antifreeze through the above mentioned intake hose. (2-3 gallons).
