1994 johnson 50 J50PLEEA wont idle. I am ready to blow this motor up

I am ready to blow this motor up. I have checked everything except reed valves and ripping into the block. carbs gone through by me(with kits) Check comp good, fuel delivery good. fuel primer good. it will only idle for a couple seconds. then it wont restart. once plugs dry out it will fire up again and do the same thing. I can bring up the rpms right away and runs strong. it feels like its pushing air out of the carbs before it dies. not sneezing though. please somebody give me a direction to go in.

Is it running with VRO in service or a conventional pump and mixed at 50:1---------------Does operating the manual fuel pump make a difference ?

sync and link done. have not tried to run without the vro pump. I will try today. My question was more toward the reed valves. I have only run across the reed valves issues a couple times. It seems like from the top carb i am getting air pushing out in stead of suction like the bottom carb.

i have plenty of fuel.Bowls are full. Needles are holding, so not flooding from there. After it stars and runs for less than a min it just dies. no sneezing. pull the plugs and there are wet with fuel. i have checked the primer solenoid is working correctly. i cant see anything wrong from visual inspection of reed valves.

If plugs are wet...then it's probably an ignition(or lack thereof) problem. Spark may be intermittent.

So ordered the fiberglass reed valve kit from ProMarine. Put them in, put it all back together. Fired right up and idle perfect. So that was fun. Got my ass kicked by a 50
