I have a 1994 johnson 88 on my bayliner 1702 cuddy. It needs new prop but I have no idea what size or pitch the prop is or what would be the best prop to have on there the application. Any ideas??? The fuel economy is awesome and seems to perform good but I think I want it to get on plain and come out of the hole a little faster/stronger.

Remove your prop and look for the size stamped in it, then you can select a new one from there.

the only thing stamped on my prop that i can see is "P3 95". Idon't know what this means. I am sure it is not the proper prop for this boat as i also do not know what the engine came off of before it was put ontoo my boat. But my boat is a 17 ft cuddy.

Examine the prop carefully, many times there will be different numbers stamped in different locations, look inside the hub as well, otherwise you could try a few of the prop selection tools online to get you headed in the right direction, just answer a couple basic questions and it will recommend a prop for you.

Make sure you are looking at the prop hub and not the thrust washer that is stuck to the hub with grease. I just went through this with a new to me motor and when I finally removed the thrust washer there was the the diameter and pitch markings stamped to the hub. The prop manufacturers have selection guides on their web sites that will get you into the ballpark. I ended up buying two props, one for just two in the boat and fishing and the other for four people and pulling tubes and wakeboards. Its always a compromise. Someone should move this to the prop section of the forum and there you will get more help. They will want to know the rpm's the boat currently makes at wide open throttle and the GPS speed in MPH the boat makes at WOT. Also how many people do you normally carry and what do you use the boat for? Fishing, cruising, water sports etc.
