Hi,

My oceanrunner has begun stalling a wide open throttle. It idles well and will cruise under 2500 rpm all day. When It gets above that it will completly die, and then its difficult to start for a while. Everyone tells me it is a fuel problem but I'm thinking electrical. When it dies it doesnt sputter it just shuts off completely. No alarms etc. There does seem to be a bit of a fuel drip directly below the VRO pump when I pump the fuel bulb. I'm not sure if this could be a cause of air getting into the system or not. I have replaced the fuel water seperator, fuel lines, and bulb with no change. Any suggestions?

Thanks

i don't know the safety features on the motor, but sucking air and leaking in the fuel system is not good. also you could have clogged high speed jets, in the carb. it could also be running hot, and the safety system on newer ones shut the engine down to 2500 rpms. also what hp, and model #

Re: 1994 Johnson Oceanrunner stalling

Sorry, its a 150 hp. I don't have the serial number with me. I don't think its a temperature issue since I've checked the alarm for each and both work. The heads do not get hot. Also it doesn't just limit the rpms to 2500 but will completely shut off. I'm going to run an auxiliary tank and see if its an issue with the fuel pick up or anti siphon valve. Would an engine idle fine, and run great up to about 3,000 rpm and stall aboove that if it had a power pack problem? My other thought was a bad ignition switch which I will check this weekend. Any help on things to look at first would be appreciated.
