Hi all. Sorry for all the questions. I'm heading out to look at a 1994 Rinker 180 Classic with a 3.0 Merc I/O in about an 90mins.

Motor is new- with just 20 hours on it. The interior is supposed to be in pretty good shape- but clean. So we'll see what that means. In terms of mid-90's Rinkers, are they pretty solid. Any known problem areas I should focus on. We're going to do a water test- which is great because most boats I've come across around me are not close enough to water to make it feasible.

Asking price is $5k

I welcome any/all opinions :)

Thanks

My brother has a '96 Rinker 19' with a 3.0... Great boat. I know he wouldn't sell his for anywhere near that price. Hard to tell if it is a good price without seeing it, but I do know Rinker makes a very quality well running boat...
GOOD LUCK

Thanks. Great info. Pictures look good- but they always seem to.

Does your brother have any issue pulling skiers and/or tubes with his?

Re: 1994 Rinker 180 Classic

I am not a big guy, 5'11 @ 175 lbs, and have never had a problem getting up on wakeboard, skis, and has plenty of power for tubing. It does have a little trouble trying to teach those that are learning how to do things, when they are 225 lbs plus. If they know what they are doing, then there is no problem at all with them either. My boat is also a 19' boat, but a sport cuddy and not an open bow. I have a '88 with a 5.0 and are top speeds are very close at WOT, but mine has a little more torque to help get up some of the bigger guys. I almost bought his boat last winter, but he wasn't willing to sell it to me for a brother-discount. lol
Let me know how it looks & if you bought it. Pictures can be sooooooo wrong, so I hope it all looks good. When looking last fall I looked at 4 differnt boats were the pictures looked good, but the boats were terds...

Re: 1994 Rinker 180 Classic

I'll keep you posted. I'm not afraid of doing some cleaning and minor fix-it work. Just want something that looks fairly current and has good mechanical.

I'll post some pics if I end up buying it. Thanks again.

Sounds Good!
I was the same way when I bought mine last November and worked on her all winter to get her ready for this year. I live in Ohio, and have already had her out about 35 times. We are loving it! I would always borrow my brothers befor, but nice to have your own.

MI_Boat,

I just bought a 94 RInker 170, mine has a outboard on it, but otherwise probably pretty close to the one your looking at. I am very happy with my boat seems pretty well built and was taken care of. Just check everywhere for rot you can get in and look under most of the boat. 5K is a really good price for that boat with a new motor, round here you would be looking at 6-6500. Good luck

Re: 1994 Rinker 180 Classic

As a follow-up, I bought it... It's sitting in my driveway right now.

Took it for a test drive and everything checked out.

There's a bit of a mildew smell that I need to get out. I figure a good cleaning of the carpet and letting it thoroughly dry out will fix this. We've had tons of rain recently.

I ordered some 3M restorer & wax last night. I'm hoping I can get the gelcoat back to a nice shine (some fading with a bit of the chalky look when dry (looks great wet).

I'll post some pics later today.
