1994 Sea Rayder w/ 90 merc- any problems to be aware of?

I am in the process of picking up a 94 Sea Rayder 14' Jet boat with the 90 Mercruiser, and the dealer has been servicing it for over 2 weeks now before he gives it up to me. he repleced the seals, pistons, honed it, and is now having a problem with an electrical piece. Its a small box, about 3x3x1" has like a gel coating to protect it, says it has something to do with the firing order or spark? do these sound like common problems, or a, i getting scammed?!!! I traded my 2001 Banshee for it, over 2 weeks ago and it sold the next day! HELP!!

I have the same boat and have no problems with it. Now I did install a new reman'ed engine from Mercury a couple of years ago. The part you mention may be the voltage regulator or it could be the rev limiter. The CDI is a larger box unless you have CDM Modules instead but that was used in later years.
