I'm new to boating and looking for some advice. A friend of mine is selling his 1994 Stingray 606. He just bought a new Bentley Pontoon and the Stingray has to go. I know it has the 4.3 MerCruiser, but really don't know much else. He is a mechanic and ALWAYS keeps his Cars/Trucks/Motorcycles in top mechanical shape. He says he has fairly low hours on it for its age and has never had to do anything other than regular maintenance. Are there any known issues I should be worried about with this model/year boat (i.e. certain things that are known to be problematic and is there a certain cutoff on hours that I should look for. For example : people use to think 100,000 miles on a car was the cutoff for problems etc.) He is asking $6000.00 with the trailer,but will sell it to me for $5000.00. He has a new stainless steel prop in the box, a Bimini cover, and recently had the bow section redone (carpet and upholstery). Any advice is appreciated, Thanks in advance...
