My girlfriend and I are picking up our boat at the end of August; we are purchasing it off her parents. It is a 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 195 with a 5.8 Volvo Penta (Ford 351) motor (carbed) with a Volvo Penta outdrive. Just wondering if anybody is able to provide me with some more info on this boat and/or boat/motor combination? Whether you have owned one of these boats or motors in the past or happen to have info on them. I have been searching everywhere but am only able to find limited info on the boat and everything I have found has the 5.0 motor in it, not the 5.8. And yes, the 5.8 was a factory option. Just, from what I have discovered, a very rare option.

It's been about 17 years but I had that engine package on a 23' Seaswirl and was very happy with it. I don't know the availability of parts at this point but that engine treated me well for about 4 years.

I just bought a 1995 carburated Volvo 5.8 Penta setup as well on a 210 Celebrity Bow Rider. Hope to find more info about it as well.

Good to hear. Thanks! What were you able to get for top speed out of it on that particular boat?

Havent had it in the water myself. But the previous owner had it doing 50 at 3/4 throttle, he claimed to have never ran it clear out.

Yes, I have been through that website extensively which is why I turned to here for some insight as it did not list a 5.8L on the fast facts sheet. I emailed Four Winns asking about the motor and drive combo and they informed me that it was in fact an option on the Sundowner 195 in that year and that the motor would have been a VP with a VP outdrive. That is about all the info they were giving up though, wasn't about to get into asking opinions on the motor/boat as there may have been just a little bit of bias in there from them haha.
