1995 150 ocean pro lift resevoir fill cap

Removed cap for the first time .Came off quite easily.Hand screwed it back on and when i couldnt hand screw any further I gave another 1/2 to 3/4 turn with tool and when it went to approx 3/4 turn the cap looked to begin to no longer be flush .I backed it off 1/4 and was flush again.Weird.All threads on both sides look to be ok.Def not cross threaded but when I got to 3/4 turn past hand tight ,it sure looked cross threaded.Sound familiar to anyone who has handled a res cap before?????

oh, TNT reservoir!........ive taken mine off, and I don't remember a washer......

IM JUST GUESSING ABOUT THE WASHER/SPACER BECAUSE WHEN I SCREW THE CAP ON ALL THE WAY,IT STARTS TO ANGLE WHEN IT IS ALMOST ALL THE WAY ON SO I HAVE TO BACK IT OFF A BIT FROM THERE.
