Went to change the lower unit oil after sitting since November. The first ounce or two appeared a little milky (yellowish). The rest of the oil (over a quart) was dark as expected. This is the second year I've owned this motor and don't recall if this occurred last year.Could this just be condensation? Also I noticed a nylon seal on the drain screw but none on the vent screw. Could this be the reason? Please tell me I'm gonna get her in without tearing off the lower unit.

Angus....
Go to your local neighborhood Johnny/Rude dealer, get two new drain/vent plug seals, some new Ultra Hi-Vis, replace the seals on the plugs, refill lower unit and enjoy the water.

possibly condensation. You should have a gasket on both.I've run my '91 200hp evinrude twice in the last month and my oil is still pretty clear. But it was changed last october.Might just be condesation settling.
Might be worth your while to change it again and then check it after you get done for the weekend for a few times and see what happens.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'll add the seals and check the oil after a couple of runs.
