1995 200 evinrude idle problem

I have a Evinrude 1995 200hp. It has had the powerhead rebuilt twice. Didn't run right. vro replaced 2 powerpacks replaced-ALL BY OMC mechanics... still not running right. I am certified master CAR/Truck mechanic. Decided to tackle problem myself. rebuilt carbs.. running much better at top end. After starting it stalls.. adjusted timing per OMC manual. still stalling. RPM just drops off -runs rough at idle then stalls. What am I missing... can email me direct at cruncher@flash.net

Have you checked your plugwires and plugwire boots to see if one of them is bleeding off. I had a bad boot on one of mine (94 115hp Yamaha) a couple of weeks back - I replaced the boot and she is running great again.

before engine stalls at idle try rapidly bumping primer button to see if it tries to settle .If it does you likely have delivery problem through low speeds. if it stalls faster, floats may be set too high and causing flood condition. Would also reccommend defeating vro system and mixing 50:1 as these units are notorious for problems.ma ny leak oil through internal seal to fuel half when sitting idle and result in oil rich condition at start-up.Does engine smoke excessively at start-up?

Do a link/sync by OMC OEM manual, Final check of max timing at full throttle 5000 rpms engine at operating temp with load on engine. Idle timing should be around 4 degrees. Disconnect shift switch and try it. You also need to know if the quickstart is working.
