I have a 25 HP Merch outboard and last time on lake it stalled and wouldnt start therafter? It has alot of power, not a problem. I rowed it back to campsite and checked engine out and found there was no spark and no power to coils. I disconected all kill switches, still nothing. One coil had corrossion at plug wire connection which I cleaned and checked for spark again and nothing. Removed flywheel and things looked normal there. What could it be why there is no spark to both coils. Please Help! Thank You!

I also have a 95 25 hp mercury with no power right now. I replaced the switchbox but that wasn't it. Now, I'm testing the stator where it clips into the switchbox and getting power there, so the only other thing it can be is the trigger. Thats the two wires coming down from under the flywheel. I hav e no spark to either plugs either. I think mine is the trigger though I am not sure.

Good luck.

You can check tthe resistance at the stator leads as follows:Disconnect the blue, red, and black wires from the switch box. Blue wire to black wire = 3200 - 3800 Ohms. Red wire to black wire = 225 - 300 Ohs. If if have a DVA multi-meter you can check the peak voltages of the stator. Blue to black = 180+ v. Red to black = 20+ v.
