When I move my control handle the throttle works fine but it does not try to move the lever to shift the motor into forward or reverse. The cable is fine I can shift the motor easily by unhooking the cable from the remote.

I have a 1995 concealed remote control.

Put the lever in the nuetral position.----Then gently push that lever towards the control box.----Will it shift now ?

Yes it will. lol It was pretty tuff to get it to move at first. Also now I know why the screw was stripped out. I guess this is also my high idle feature.

Now is there any hope to find a neutral safety switch for this control? They seem to be discontinued...

Time for you to look into this.---Perhaps consult your friendly dealer.--Newer controls have the switch and lead as an assembly.----May fit / may not.------This part change may due to today's high labor rates.-----Shops want " plug and play " parts , even if it cost the owner more sheckels !-----You may have an electrical supply type place that will say " how many do you want " as well.-Looks like a fairly standard microswitch.
